BDO Philippines Senior Audit Partner Ruby R. Seballe shared among hundreds of CPAs from various schools around the country her expertise in the topic "Audit Updates" during the recently concluded Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants - Association of Certified Public Accountants in Education (PICPA-ACPAE) 2nd Annual Conference last January 27-29, 2012 at the Hotel Supreme, Baguio City, Philippines.
Ms. Seballe is a consultant/ lecturer for International Accounting Standards (IAS) / International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS) and in numerous occasions with topic on financial accounting. She is an active member of the Auditing and Assurance Standards Council (AASC).
This Council is responsible for the promulgation of auditing standards, practices and procedures, considered as generally accepted auditing standards in the Philippines. She is also a member and former secretary of the Philippine Interpretation Committee (PIC), a Committee responsible for developing implementation guidance on various International Standards issued in the Philippines by the Financial Reporting Standards Council (FRSC).
Ms. Seballe is also active in various professional organizations. She is currently the Chairman of the "Citi Junior Bankers Program", a Sub-Committee of the Professional Development Committee of the Financial Executives Institute of the Philippines (FINEX). She was a former Director and Treasurer of the Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountants (PICPA)-National and former President of the PICPA-Southern Metro Manila Chapter (SMMC). She is also a member of the Institute of Internal Auditors of the Philippines (IIA-P).
The said conference was attended by Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) in the field of education. Some of the tackled issues aside from Audit Updates were on research, revised code of ethics for accountants, outcome-based curriculum, K-12, book publishing, career opportunities for accountancy students, and board of accountancy updates regarding the CPA exam syllabi.
The theme for this year's conference, "ACPAE-IV Cares: Committed & Relevant Educators Signify!" launched the "WIN ACPAE –IV P50, 000 CPA Review Financing Support Program", a no interest loan program for poor but deserving CPA reviewees in the Philippines.
ACPAE (Association of CPAs in Education)-IV is an affiliation of accounting educators recognized by the Professional Regulation Commission, Securities and Exchange Commission, Philippine Institute of Certified Public Accountant (PICPA) and National Association of CPAs in Education.
